Elle UK interview. 2

I arrive at Leavesden Studio near Warford in Hertfordshire at 11:30 on a Tuesday morning. Home to the Harry Potter cast and crew for 10 years now, it’s an old aerodrome (??) that houses the film’s impressive sets but looks - and an closer inspection is – entirely devoid of glamour. Emma has recently moved out of her mother’s house in Oxford and into a Hampstead flathouse(?), so she’s now only a 30-minute drive away. Filming on the final two movies of the series (the seventh book is being split into two screenplays) is well underway; leaving her working six days a week for the forcenable (?); so the mountain has come to Mo……(?). I’m sitting in the canteen when, suddenly; she’s here, hovering over me and grinning shyly.
In the flesh, she’s aristocratically beautiful. Willowy thin with perfect, youthful skin naturally flushed, and those to-die-for strong slanted eyebrows. Her youth is …….(??) by her clothes; fresh from a morning of filming (it’s the Totherham Court Road café scene today) she’s head-to-toe in Hermione-wear – brown cords, a fitted tee and a zip-up sweatshirt. For many; Emma Watson is Hermione Granger and Hermione Granger is Emma Watson. The lines are so blurred as to have become non-existent. The whole world sees Emma Watson as a well-brought-up schoolgirl, JK Rowling’s magical novels have sold more than 400 million copies worldwide; the series of film adaptations will, with this month’s release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, claim from James Bond its place as the highest-growing film series ever made. Before she even took her driving test, Emma was an action figure, and featured on poster, stickers, Photoshopped Youtubes video (hahahhahah), Top Trump card games and even a Lego character. It’s the kind of success nine-years old Emma auditioning for the part at her Oxford school, could not have imagined, but it’s also the kind of success that, at 19, makes you all too aware that this might be as good as it gets.
For the moment, then, university is the focus “I’m so excited, Living in London, it’s hard to be anonymous. But hopefully on some campus somewhere, I’ll fade into the background a bit” she says. The relative anonymity of America is clearly a draw “I’m very aware that with Cambridge, people would find that interesting Cambridge it so high profile in itself and then on top of that, people don’t really go out in Cambridge because it’s so small, so I’ll be going out in London and then that’s just the same thing I definitely am attracted to the State for that reason”.
For Emma, university means leaving behind two families-her parents, brother and sisters, and the people here in Wartford, with whom she’s spent more than half her life. “It’s going to sound dramatic, but I feel like its going to be my life over as I know it. My whole life has been about Harry Potter and then all of that will shut down and I don’t know what it will be like. I go to university in September- I’ll be going bit and bobs (??) at Christmas, but September feels like my cut-off point, the moment when I’ll really stop”
While her privacy may have been curtailed (??), the Harry Potter legacy undoubtedly has its benefits. On her 18th birthday last April, Emma took control of an estimated £ 10 million. Rather than celebrate her fortune with a spending spree, she took a course at exclusive bank Coutts on how to manage her millions. “My dad never told me how much money I was earning. Then when I hit 18, he was like, ‘I want you to have a feel for what it’s worth and what you can do with it.’ The course was interesting I’m glad I did it, but the truth is I’d just like to pretend that it [the money] doesn’t exit. It’s amazing how many children are aware from such a young age about money being important or supposedly impressive. Around the age of 13 or 14, kids used to come up to me and say; ‘You the girl on Harry Potter? How much do you make?’”
So is she spending any of it? On clothes, perhaps? “I’m really interested in Fairtrade fashion and organic cotton, but it’s hard because, to be honest, the stuff’s kind of ugly or really plain. I’m actually quite a tomboy, I love a blazer with jeans and some pumps. I like that French kind of simple style, like Agnes B and I love black tights. Anything with black tights is good. I went to Uniglo for the first time recently and that was great, so cool.”
No outlandish splurges, then? An impractical sports car or a wardrobe stocked with strong shoulder Balmain? “I really don’t have time to spend my money. Sometimes my bank manager calls me to say: ‘You haven’t used your card in a while and now you’re using it- no one’s stolen it, have they?’ I’ll happily fork out money for a nice meal, though. I’m a big food fan, I eat healthy but when I’m tired I want Pizza Hut or McDonald’s. When I get back in the evening, my flatmate and I are so knackered that we can’t be bothered to make anything to eat, so I’ll have toast for dinner.”
If that all sound a little bit too normal, not at all like the life of an increasingly A-list actress, that pretty much sums up the very unstarry Miss Watson. A night in at Emma’s place sounds much like our own. “I’m obsessed with Gossip Girl. It’s so wrong that Nate and Blair are getting back together. Blair is definitely the more interesting character. If I were going to play either of them [Blair or Serena], I would play Blair. I love watching America’s Next Top Model too. My flatmate, Sophie, is in the British version of the series- it make it extra tame(?). My other guilty pleasure is Twilight (noooooooo Emma noooooooo), I love those books. My friend and I read them back to back. This is so sad, but I literally felt depressed when I finished reading them because I thought, “Oh my God, what am I going to do now?”
When it comes to partying this 19 years old is certainly not of the ilk that stumbles drunkenly into the eager lenses of waiting paparazzi, stockings laddered, eyeliner smuggled (?), only too eager to spill the proverbial beam on no-hold-barred blogs. “The best nights out I’ve had have been at Cheesy nightclubs in Oxford,” she smiles. “As soon as I’m going out, it’s like a bomb has exploded in my room. I’ve got clothes, make-up, my straightener…I love sharing clothes with my flatmate and getting ready together. If I hadn’t been an actress I would have happily been a make-up artist. I love make-up. Being around make-up girls all the time you pick up loads of stuff- I’ll go down there at lunch and use some of their products. I love doing up my flatmate before she’s goes out, like a Girl’s World.”

Elle UK interview.

There are some glamorous nights out, but so far they’ve proved to be the exception rather than the rule. “I had a really great night after the Bafta; I’ve never stayed out that late before. We went to the Double Club in Islington. It’s got this great, relaxed atmosphere and it’s really arty” You wore Temperley London…”Yes. The head of costume here said. ‘You were doing so well, dressing so young and then you pull out this long black Temperley dress- what were you thinking?’ But it was the Bafta’s. You have to wear full-length-there are rules [Shrugs] I liked it, I thought it was a bit bohemian.
“Doing well is something of an understatement when it comes to the recent improvement in Emma’s wardrobe, “I’d always gone and bought my premiere clothes myself with my mum, but no one designs premiere dress for 12-years-old girls. I’d be in Harrods and my mother-would be like, ‘Take that off, you look like you’re going to a wedding.’” That all change though, thanks to a certain Mr. Karl Lagerfeld
“Before the fourth (fifth?) premiere, I’d just signed up for the model agency Storm, and they called me to say. ‘Chanel would love to lend you clothes.’ I was so excited.” Her relationship with Lagerfeld as well [as the seemingly steady stream of Chanel clothing at her disposal, the two have met a few times, including a photoshoot in Lagerfeld own studio] has done much to elevate Emma’s status in style circles, although both parties have ……..(?) denied the persistent rumours that she is to become a face of the brand. Unrivalled at unearthing future fashion stars; can Lagerfeld explain what it is that is so special about her? “I always expect her to be unexpected” he says. “She is really natural in her way to be. She doesn’t have to think about her style.”
“Karl’s so nice” Emma complements right back. “When he photographed me, we talked about books and literature, he knows so much it’s intimidating. He has this bookshop in Paris and you have to go through it [to get to the studio], I could spend days in there. He told me that he doesn’t keep his books in any kind of order because that way he finds books he’s forgotten about when he’s looking for something else.”
But there’s been less Chanel of late, more now, edgy labels such as the short, sexed-up, see-through paneled William Tempest dress that so impressed at The Tale of Dexparaux premiere. “I’m young and ideally, I want to wear young designers who are coming up with new and interesting ideas,” she says “I first saw William at Fashion Fringe [in March 2009] Alexa [Chung] was sat to my left and we both loved William’s show, but he didn’t win – he was robbed!”
During the autumn/winter 2009 shows, the ELLE team grew accustomed to finding Emma front row, noting a geometric-print Giambatista Valli dress here, a silver Chanel bomber jacket there. “I love the spectacle of it [the front row]. The show I enjoyed the most were Christopher Kane and Giles Deacon.” Both were on the London schedule-a coincidence? “There was a really great energy about the London shows and I felt so much more comfortable there. I literally got the Tube, walked from the Tube station to the venue with my stepmum and then walked straight to my seat. In Paris, as soon as I got out of my car I was hounded, I couldn’t even walk. In London I felt like I was there to see the clothes, but in Paris…I just didn’t realize how full-on it was going to be, I don’t think I’d ever do that again. I’ll stick to London and one or two key shows like Christopher Kane, I loved Christopher Kane. I actually met him before the show and he is so sweet, so down to earth.” The designers themselves seem just as taken with Emma. Kane describes meeting her at a fashion event before the pair headed off to party at Bungalow 8. “We had a lot of fun” he says, “Emma reminds me of stars like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. She has a touch of “Lotita” charm combined with sophistication beyond her years. She always looks flawless.” William Tempest agrees, “She definitely has a quality of old Hollywood about her-very elegant and sophisticated but fashion forward at the same time.” So taken in Burberry’s creative director, Christopher Bailey, that the actress is the only woman to appear in the label’s always impressively cast advertising campaign this season, “Emma was the obvious choice,” says Bailey. “She has a classic beauty, a great character and a modern edge.”
It’s fair to say that the thorny issue of public perception is one that Emma has given a good deal of thought to. Yet, there’s an element of typical teenager, prone to weighting up the meaning of life, the universe and everything. But for a woman who centered the collective consciousness at an earlier age than Britney, Lily or even the more recent Miley, she’s surprisingly switched (?) on. “I don’t want other people to decide who I am. I want to decide that for myself. I want to avoid becoming too styled and too “done” and too generic. You see people as they go through their career and they just become more and more like everyone else. They start out with something individual about them but it gets lost. Natalie Portman is an exception. I’m in awe of how she’s handled herself. And Agyness Deyn is cool, really individual. Her style isn’t necessarily mine, but I respect that she is retaining her own look.”
Emma’s image has been fairly one-dimensionally portrayed, conjuring up preconception of a smart, reserved public schoolgirl; in other words, a real-life Hermione. “I don’t think I am as black and white as [the media] like to make me out. I’m not you classic public schoolgirl because I’ve been brought up here, in Wartford. And I’ve met and worked with people from a million different backgrounds. Everyone’s going to think different things about me and I can’t control that. You can please everyone. And that’s something that I’m learning. I’m so desperate to please people and for people to like me that in a way I feel like I’m not cut out for this business. At the moment I’m really aware of what people think I should do and what looks like the right thing to do; the kind of expected path I should be taking. It’s hard having that kind of pressure, that weight of expectation. But I’m going to try to do what I want to do and what’s right for me and put other people’s opinions to the back of the picture.”
Two opinions she will be taking into account are those of her parents. Both lawyers, they separated when Emma was five, and she divided her childhood between their homes and the Watford studio, Emma has one younger brother, Alex and twin half-sisters who played the roles of the Fossils babies in 2007’s adaptation of Noel Strafford’s Ballet Shoes, Emma’s first non-Potter project. The set-up sound more than civil, with Emma referring regularly to all the members of the family. She’s saving her clothes to pass on to the twins and supplements her own wardrobe with pieces from both her mother and stepmother’s closets. “My stepmother has these great thigh-length leather boots, but she’ll only let me borrow them if I’m really nice,” she smiles. Her parent’s example is undoubtedly an influence on Emma’s decision to pursue university rather than line up the next acting role. “Both my parents were lawyers, academics I didn’t watch film. My dad didn’t like TV. I never really had idols growing up or poster on my wall. I guess the Spice Girls were as near as I ever got to that.”
Despite her misgiving about the ending of this film juggernaut that has been her life for so long, Emma is clearly itching to taste to corresponding freedom. “AT the moment I feel like I need to go away and figure out what I want to do and be myself for a bit,” she says. “Does that sound strange? I need university to give me that break. People think because I’m going to university I’m never going to act again, but it’s actually me…I want to…figure out how I feel about everything first. Maybe I’ll keep acting, maybe I won’t. I just want to find something where I feel I have to do this. Maybe that’ll happen when I read a script. It felt like that with Hermione, I want to feel like that again.”
With that, Emma’s off. She’s already resisted the prompting of her assistant for the past 15 minutes and she has an urgent appointment with Harry and Ron on Totterham Court Road. Who’s that girl? She’s a woman who may not know exactly what she want just yet, but is certainly on her way.

Lengthy interview with Emma.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/harry-potter/5653289/Emma-Watson-to-take-three-year-break-from-acting-after-Harry-Potter.html

"I want to forget about hair and makeup," she said in an interview with The Times. "Sometimes on a publicity tour I can't remember what time it is, what country I'm in.

"Now it's coming to an end I'm trying to hold on to it. So I have a book, and everyone I've met has a page. I want to remember them and not just be left with the media version of what happened to me."

Emma stated that Ron and Hermione's kiss took only six takes to perfect:

Quote:
"We did it two weeks ago," she said. "Four takes one way and two takes with the camera in the other direction. Six takes altogether."

Rupert talks kissing Emma.

"We've known each other for 10 years so it was a bit like kissing my sister," he told the Mail on Sunday.

"We were determined to get it right the first time, but our first try was a disaster because we both felt so self-conscious and we couldn't stop laughing."

more location filming.

Filming was well underway in Swinley Forest, Berkshire with scenes of up to 20 deatheaters hunting the gang through the various forest locations, sending curses flying everywhere.Using five specially prepared areas, Harry, Ron and Hermione were running through the trees at full speed in their attempt to get away once again following their escape from the trap at Luna's house, set by Xenophilius. The forest doesn't contain a natural lake but we think it might be added later by the FX department. An impressive set was dressed with SFX 'snow' to be used in the Winter scenes while other sets were left natural.

SPOILER ALERT:

For those of you who wanted exact details of the BURNHAM BEECHES location shoot (seen it reported as Burnley Beeches on a few sites) and the 'Forest of Dean' set we can give you some details.
Mainly 'tent' scenes, being filmed were 139 & 145 with the trio in their tent during Winter, they are discussing Dumbledore and Grindlewald, Harry realises his wand is broken while Ron is busy explaining how he found them. Scenes 140 and part 141 Harry sees the Silver Doe Patronus and follows.
Scenes 89, 91, 98, 100 featuring Summer scenes and Ron constantly scanning his radio for updates! They hear news of Snape while Harry checks the Marauders Map. The trio hear a funny ticking noise and seek to find out what it is.....

Other location filming may include: Harry and Bathilda's fight! some great Grimmauld place action, an extensive Scotland shoot coming up this Summer + location reports from a secret Hertfordshire location, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and last but not least a major London scene to be shot VERY soon which we'll let you know of.

Snatcher scenes for DH filming.

The scenes being shot here will be featured in both parts 1 & 2 of The Deathly Hallows. Night scenes and day action were shot by both film units; these include the capture of Harry, Ron and Hermione by the Snatchers (who then deliver them to Malfoy Manor), several scenes involving the Death Eaters and a scene in which Ron chases a rabbit through the forest!...Regulars on location were Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and in addition there were around 20 Death Eaters, including the very scary Fenrir Greyback!! Plus the Snatchers, (two of which are played by Chase Armitage and Adam Brashaw) whom are well known already in the UK as ‘urban acrobatics’ (or experts in ‘free running’), and also trained in various forms of Martial Arts....From one of my own contacts, I'm told the footage and scenes these guys filmed with the trio in the forest are out of this world and use very few effects if any! We’re awaiting confirmation if ‘Hagrid’ or Robbie Coltrane filmed a scene but definately there was a screen double, possibly ex-England Rugby star Martin Bayfield (as featured in previous films) shooting one or more of the scenes.

Quidditch talk by cast.

The romantic rivalries spill over to the Quidditch pitch, where Ron and Cormac McLaggen are both trying out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Hoping to catch Hermione's eye, the handsome and athletic Cormac has decided to compete against Ron for the position of Keeper. "He's an arrogant show-off, who thinks he is the best at everything," states Freddie Stroma, who plays Cormac. "He wants to give Ron a hard time by going after the position of Keeper...and Hermione."

"Ron is understandably intimidated by him because Cormac is in a physical class that Ron will never be," says Heyman. "But with some help from his friends, Ron puts Cormac in his place."

Second unit director Stephen Woolfenden reveals, "One thing David Yates really wanted to do was get Rupert up there on a rig and catch him off guard, so we filmed him from a variety of angles where we would just fire 20 Quaffles at a time at him. The real responses to everything flying at him at once made for some very funny viewing and the improvised nature of it also made it easier for him to look as though he is not as in control."

In addition to the team trials, there is also an actual match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. "It was really great to work on the Quidditch scenes, which is something I didn't get to do in the last film," Yates says. "From the start, we wanted to explore how physically demanding a sport it is, because if you're flying around on a broomstick at 60 miles-per-hour, trying to avoid Bludgers and each other, it can actually be quite dangerous. In our Quidditch, you see players colliding in mid-air and falling, so it's visceral and very fast."

"We wanted it to be like rollerball on brooms," adds David Barron. "It's tougher and rougher than Quidditch has ever been before, but also a lot of fun."

Woolfenden says that capturing the rough-and-tumble action of the flying sport "was a wonderful mix of departments all working together: visual effects, stunts, special effects, camera, costumes..."

The flying rigs used for the Quidditch scenes in the previous films had to be redesigned for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," mainly because the kids have grown up. Special effects supervisor John Richardson offers, "The broomstick rigs we had in the past were all designed for little kids, and now we're dealing with big, strapping lads and lasses. Everything had to be redeveloped."

There were several different rigs utilized to capture the high-flying action, including one called the Matrix rig, which could rapidly spin an actor or stuntperson on any axis, while keeping them safely secured. Stunt coordinator Greg Powell notes, "It gave us great range of motion in a nice fluid movement, but was very safe."

"They could spin around one way and then the other, and backwards and forwards... It looks great, but I would hate to do it after lunch," Richardson jokes.

Other equipment incorporated to film the Quidditch sequences included: a pole arm, on which the broom could be mounted and either manually or mechanically manipulated; a giant Russian swing, which could literally launch a person into the air, allowing the camera to catch them in free fall; and, of course, a traditional trampoline.

Jany Temime designed new Quidditch uniforms, including a training outfit, which she describes as "basically like a track suit with extra padding on the arms and legs and a leather helmet. The game uniform is obviously more glamorous than the training outfit. Everything was handmade. It was absolutely sumptuous."

Completing the look of the game uniforms, visual effects supervisor Tim Burke and his team digitally added the teams' capes in post-production. They made the capes appear to be streaming, adding to the effect of speed.

Production designer Stuart Craig also updated the look of the Quidditch stadium. "We put in more towers and they're closer together, which offered the players more opportunities for weaving in and out," he explains. "It added to the action with things whizzing by at close proximity. There are also proper bleachers. I think it's altogether more impressive."

Harry v Voldrmort.

Harry actually has no idea who the Half-Blood Prince is. All he knows is he was the previous owner of an old textbook, which Harry inherited when he enrolled in Professor Slughorn's Potions class. Yates offers, "The book says it is the 'Property of the Half-Blood Prince,' but there is no name and no other record of him, so his identity is an enigma. But whoever he was, he was obviously very smart; he was capable of taking the conventional recipes for certain potions and spells and making them significantly better. He was an original thinker but also quite a dark thinker. The things he came up with eventually lead Harry into some very intense territory."

Handwritten along the margins of the Advanced Potion Making textbook, the notes from the Half-Blood Prince help make Harry even more of a star in Slughorn's class, which plays perfectly into Dumbledore's plans. He knew the Potions professor would try to "collect" Harry and bluntly tells Harry to let him. Michael Gambon explains, "Dumbledore knows Slughorn is hiding some important information about the young Tom Riddle, but he needs Harry to get him to reveal it."

Dumbledore believes that the key to Lord Voldemort's defeat lies in his past; therefore he has been gathering any memories he can of Tom Riddle, trying to glean when and how Riddle gained the knowledge that enabled him to become, as he says, "the most dangerous Dark Wizard of all time." Each memory he procures is carefully labeled and stored in a glass vial, including his own earliest recollections. Taking one out, he pours the contents into a floating Pensieve and shows Harry his first memory of Tom Riddle as a mere child.

Harry watches as a younger Dumbledore arrives at Wool's Orphanage. Production designer Stuart Craig says that the exterior of the orphanage was inspired by a building he came across while location scouting on the dockside in Liverpool. "There was this monolithic brick structure that dominated everything around it," he describes. "It was very sinister, very prison-like, and the design grew out of that. For the interior we used this glazed tile that was typical of Victorian institutions because it was durable and easy to clean. It has a dark, oppressive look that perfectly suited the environment we wanted to create for the orphanage."

Inside the orphanage, Dumbledore is led to a cheerless room and is greeted by the cold stare of the young Tom Riddle. The part of the 11-year-old Tom is played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who happens to be the nephew of Ralph Fiennes, the actor who portrays Lord Voldemort. "Tom is a dark, gloomy boy," says Tiffin, who was age 10 when he won the role of Tom Riddle as a boy. "He has these special powers and he can hurt anyone who is mean to him. He doesn't have any friends at the orphanage, so he steals other people's things because it makes him feel close to them. It's very sad."

"Hero was fantastic," Heyman states. "He is a lovely, charming boy, yet he was able to create an eerie detachment and a sense of control that I think is chilling onscreen."

"He's absolutely the sweetest kid you'd ever want to meet," Yates confirms. "He took direction so well. It wasn't difficult because he's quite charismatic, so it was just a matter of switching off any emotion and letting him be very still and very calm."

Dumbledore tells Tom that, at Hogwarts, he will be taught how to use and control magic. He leaves not knowing the wheels he has unwittingly set in motion, "but it is scary to realize that the die was cast all those years ago," says David Barron.

Dumbledore later shows Harry another memory, this one of a 16-year-old Tom Riddle, who has become one of Horace Slughorn's prized pupils. Frank Dillane, who plays the teenaged Riddle, notes, "Tom is very charming but very manipulative. His relationship with Slughorn is a bit topsy-turvy. I mean, in the student/teacher relationship, the teacher should be the one that commands authority. But from what we see, Tom is the one who appears to be pulling the strings."

"Frank did an amazing job of conveying that there is something brewing just beneath the surface," Barron says. "Tom is exceedingly polite, yet there is something vaguely threatening about him that obviously unnerves Slughorn."

On this particular evening, Tom lingers after one of Slughorn's gatherings and asks him about "a bit of rare magic." But Slughorn angrily cuts him off, refusing even to discuss such matters and ordering him out of the room.

Harry is understandably confused until Dumbledore explains that the memory is a lie. It has been altered by the one whose memory it is: Horace Slughorn. And whatever information Slughorn did impart to Tom could lead them to the only way to defeat Voldemort. Somehow, Harry must get Slughorn to overcome his guilt and his fear and divulge what, in truth, he remembers.

"This represents a real progression for Harry as a character," Yates observes. "Harry is fighting a war so when Dumbledore tells him that, with this memory, they could defeat Voldemort, that's all he needs to know. Killing Voldemort is what primarily drives Harry, so Slughorn becomes just a means to an end. It is a definite departure to see Harry Potter working this guy to get what he wants."

Cast talk about quidditch and romance.

New cast interview on love triangles in HBP.

As the new year begins at Hogwarts, Dumbledore introduces the students assembled in the Great Hall to returning Potions Professor Horace Slughorn. He also reveals that Severus Snape has finally achieved his long-held ambition to become the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

The students had also been greeted by added security measures, which Dumbledore now explains are to protect both them and the school against the threat of the rampaging Death Eaters. However, the young wizards are about to discover there is no magic formula to help them navigate their teen years, and the intertwining stories of romance, jealousy, crushes, unrequited love, and romantic rivalries might also feel familiar to any Muggle who is--or has ever been--a teenager.

David Barron illustrates, "For the first time we learn that Harry has feelings for Ginny Weasley, who is going out with Dean Thomas, much to the concern of her brother Ron, who has fallen head-over-heels for Lavender Brown, leaving Hermione, who is secretly in love with Ron, watching jealously from the sidelines, so she goes out with Cormac McLaggen, even though she can't stand him, to make Ron jealous... Welcome to the normal life of a teenager," he deadpans.

Returning in the role of Hermione Granger, Emma Watson notes, "These characters are usually facing such huge issues, like fighting evil, so it's easy to forget that they're just teenagers. For me, this film feels more like a romantic comedy than the others, in the sense that we get to see them coping with first love, jealousy and insecurity and all the usual things involved in dating."

In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," Harry famously had his first kiss with Cho Chang. In this film, we see him begin a new relationship with an old friend, as he discovers that Ron's "baby" sister, Ginny, is now a lovely young woman. Bonnie Wright, who likewise has grown up in the role of Ginny, says her character's attraction to Harry is not news to her. "As a little girl, Ginny fancied her big brother's best friend, but she never believed anything would come of it because he is her brother's best friend. Over the years, they developed a connection; she understands the responsibility Harry has to the rest of the wizarding world and that he is seen as the 'Chosen One.' But what she doesn't realize is that he has begun to like her, too. That does come as a surprise to her and I guess to him, as well," she smiles.

Standing in the way of Harry and Ginny's budding romance, there is the matter of her current boyfriend, Dean Thomas (Alfred Enoch). Ron has been glaring at Dean while keeping a protective eye on his sister, and Harry would prefer not to see that glare turned towards him. Radcliffe offers, "Harry is starting to feel incredibly strongly about Ginny, but her brother is his best mate and he doesn't want to jeopardize that. At the same time, he really does want to kiss Ginny so it's a bit of a dilemma. I think it's good fun and quite sweet."

However, Ginny's big brother is about to be distracted by his own romantic triangle. Ron Weasley gets his first official love interest, although fans have long suspected that he and Hermione have feelings for each other, while never actually admitting them. But pretty Lavender Brown makes no secret of her affection for Ron and never misses an opportunity to demonstrate her adoration.

"Ron finally gets a girlfriend in this film," Rupert Grint says. "At the start, he thinks he's quite the man. But after a while he finds her a bit overwhelming because Lavender is sort of over the top; she's starting to scare him. She calls him 'Won-Won' and gives him jewelry, and Ron doesn't know how to handle it. She's driving him crazy."

Heyman comments, "Lavender is a force of nature. She's a lovely girl but not at all reserved. She is all over Ron, who is not used to such a predatory female. But initially, he is rather enjoying it, and who can blame him? Their romance is a great source of humor and it really lets Rupert flex his comedic muscles, which is a treat."

"Rupert is such a natural comedian," Yates affirms. "He was always coming up with surprising little things that made us all laugh. So it was a real thrill to direct him in the comedy scenes, which is something I didn't really have an opportunity to do on 'Order of the Phoenix.'"

For the role of the coquettish Lavender Brown, the filmmakers cast newcomer Jessie Cave, who describes her character as "bubbly and very physical, which is quite liberating. Her way of getting Ron is leaping on him and kissing him and practically strangling him with her hugs, but it leaves other people incredulous. It's a bold thing to do; not many girls would be brazen enough to act that way, but she uses it to get what she wants and she usually does. I also think that she is hiding a lot of insecurities underneath. She definitely has layers, and that's what makes her such a great character."

"Jessie Cave is fantastic," Heyman states. "We saw a lot of girls for the part, but when we saw Jessie, there was no question--she was our Lavender Brown. There was also so much chemistry between her and Rupert."

Lavender also gives Ron his first kiss, but it is a far cry from the chaste and very private kiss shared by Harry and Cho in the last film. Rather, Ron and Lavender are in the middle of a cheering crowd when Lavender wraps her arms around Ron's neck and plants a long kiss on his lips. "It was sort of embarrassing because our first kiss was in a room full of people, not like Dan's. We were both nervous," Grint confesses, "but once we got through a few takes, it was cool."

As the kissing scene approached, Radcliffe was planning on taking a little revenge on his castmate. "I was very much looking forward to Rupert kissing Jessie. I took a fair bit of ribbing when I kissed Katie in the last film, so it was my turn this time around," he laughs.

One person, however, is not amused by Lavender's overt displays of affection for Ron: Hermione, who has been holding a torch for Ron, while he remains oblivious. Yates acknowledges, "They may not seem to be a natural couple in many ways, because she is so bright and organized and serious and he appears to be none of those things. But there is something else going on that draws them together."

Hermione hasn't exactly been forthcoming about her feelings, and now she is heartbroken--afraid she has lost her chance and, worse yet, to a girl she can't abide.

"Hermione hates Lavender so much," says Watson candidly. "The fact that she is with Ron would be reason enough, but I think Hermione mostly hates her because Lavender is the complete opposite of her in every way. She sees Lavender as a giggly, air-headed, attention-seeking girly-girl and she can't stand that. Hermione is strong and smart, which can be intimidating to guys. I don't think she knows how to put on makeup or do her hair, so she finds it hard to compete on those terms with a girl like Lavender."

The differences between Hermione and Lavender are also evident in their clothing choices. Jany Temime says she designed Lavender's costumes to be as feminine and colorful as her name. "We gave her very flirty, pretty things to wear, and she has a different outfit for every scene to show she's a girl who loves clothes. Even when she wears her uniform, she's added personal little touches, like the scarf in her hair."

By contrast, Temime says, "Hermione is still very down to earth in what she wears--very casual, very practical. She looks lovely because Emma is a beautiful girl, but Hermione is the sort of girl who believes her brain is her best asset, so she is not trying to impress with her clothes."

But neither Lavender nor Hermione counted on a love potion-laced box of chocolates, combined with Ron's unending appetite, to steal his affections. "They were just laying out for the taking, and Ron does enjoy his sweets," Grint teases.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: The Game" - MAKING OF (Subtitulado en Castellano)

HBP game making of.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyl4IUrba0M

new HBP interview.

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” not only represents a new chapter in the lives of Harry and his friends and foes, it is one that blends humor and heartbreak, romance and redemption, and the past and the present as never before. And in the wake of Lord Voldemort’s return, the choice between good and evil has never had more serious ramifications.

Heyman offers, “One of the central themes in the Harry Potter books is the choices we make are what ultimately define us. It’s also something we have explored and will continue to explore in the films. Each of the books, as well as the respective films, chronicles a different year in Harry’s life, and the sixth installment is no exception. In the last film, we were watching Harry at a difficult stage—tormented by dreams, questioning himself and beset by personal demons. Now he’s a year older and that brings a different set of issues and responsibilities.”

“For me, the films have always been about a loss of innocence,” says Daniel Radcliffe, the actor behind the title character, who can perhaps no longer be called the boy wizard. “When Harry came into this world, it was all just amazing and brilliant and kind of pure. But as the films have gone on, that’s totally disintegrated, and he’s realizing that the wizarding world has just as many, if not more, challenges than the world he grew up in before.”

However, there are some challenges shared by teenagers in both worlds, whether wizard or Muggle. Producer David Barron acknowledges that there is no magic spell to evade the perils of adolescence, noting, “Romantic entanglements are never easy, at whatever age we are, but in adolescence they can be particularly difficult. I think Jo (J.K. Rowling) captured that wonderfully in the book and our remarkable director, David Yates, and our talented cast have brought it beautifully to the screen with both heart and humor.”

Heyman states, “Jo gave us the gift of these magnificent books and every one is a jewel. Her imagination never ceases to amaze me. Each Harry Potter book brings us new challenges and new opportunities, so coming into this movie, we were as excited as ever.”

Director David Yates had entered the world of Harry Potter with “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” the fifth film in the series. “I had such a great experience on the last film and was thrilled to be asked back,” he says. “I loved the sixth book. It is hugely entertaining, bringing more romance to Hogwarts than we’ve ever seen before combined with an intriguing uncovering of Voldemort’s past that has huge implications for the rest of the series.

“Another year brings up another set of challenges for Harry, Ron and Hermione, and the older they get the more complex they become,” Yates continues. “I really enjoyed exploring deeper aspects of the characters further with Dan, Rupert (Grint) and Emma (Watson). They are really keen to push and be pushed in their roles because we all want these characters to grow and develop both with the unfolding stories and the audience.”

The cast has equal praise for their director. “David is a joy to work with,” says Radcliffe. “I always looked forward to seeing him on the set because he has so much energy and enthusiasm, which is fantastic.”

Rupert Grint, who plays the role of Harry’s best friend, Ron Weasley, adds, “We all got on really well with David, so we were pleased he was coming back. Going through the script, he really listened to what we had to say about our characters, but he also offered a lot of help and guidance.”

Having scripted the first four Harry Potter films, Steve Kloves returned to the franchise to write the screenplay for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Heyman comments, “In this film, more than in the previous ones, there were a number of narrative threads to follow, so that was one of the great challenges. We were blessed to have another wonderful screenplay from Steve Kloves, who wove them all together brilliantly. And David Yates really made them gel. He is a formidable director. Apart from telling a good story, the humanity of the characters is so important to him and he continues to draw out new sides of our actors that even I had never seen before.”

DH split.

"Yes, I think we have," he said. "Things can change when you edit, of course, but the idea now is that it will be not long after the sequence that we are filming here today. That's what we're experimenting with. We've had three or four different ideas about where to cut off the seventh film. Traditionally, the movies have ended with a death or a bereavement, some sort of passage or arrival. This time we think we will end with more a cliffhanger. Again, though, that's the thought as of this moment."

Snatcher scenes for DH filming.

"We're here in the forest, we've just finished the scene where Harry, Hermione and Ron are captured by the Snatchers after being chased through the woods. The Snatchers are brutal and scary but they aren't the most intelligent of creatures. They're trying to figure out exactly who it is they've caught."

The captions on the pictures are:
"Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Gryffindor common room"
"Do you think the corridors of Gloucester Cathedral are haunted?"
"The world famous Glenfinnan bridge in Scotland, better known as the Harry Potter bridge"

17 mag interview.

With this Harry Potter phenomenon, do you feel like you've been able to have a normal teenager's life?
Yes, I have because I'm still going to school, and that makes a difference. I haven't been home-schooled or anything. If it wasn't because of that I would've gone insane.

It must be complicated to be under the public eye like that. People know about everything you do, they take pictures of you with different guys and they say you're dating them.
It's like I'm not allowed to have male friends. To the press, I'm dating all of them. But the only way to live through it is to laugh about it.The people must think it's very weird because one week I'm going out with Daniel, then it's a new guy "what is wrong with her?". It's ridiculous. But if the worst thing they can write about me is that I go out a lot with different guys, then I'm not concerned.

How important is acting in your life? Is it a real passion, or is there something else?
I had been doubting if I wanted to act for the rest of my life. The reason is because I was only nine when I started. They went to my school, and they picked me. I auditioned and I got the role. I never went to acting school, I didn't know I wanted to be an actress. It's amazing, but just because it happened it doesn't mean that it's the right fit for me. It took me awhile to decide what to do. And now I think it is. I come from a family of lawyers and academics, we didn't watch movies in my house. I didn't know who Gary Oldman or Maggie Smith were. So I educated myself watching thousands of movies. Now I'm passionate about it.

What would you if you were not an actress?
I wouldn't go to law school, that's too serious. I would've loved to be a crazy and eccentric painter in Paris. I paint in real life, I love it.

What's the weirdest rumor you've heard about yourself?
All this Chanel rumors. It depresses me because I wish it was true.

The rumor that you're becoming the new face of Coco Mademoiselle?
Yea, I would love to be. But it's not true. Everybody keeps congratulating me. I'm not going to take away Keira's contract.

Have you been excited about meeting a celebrity?
Yes, and it's funny when it happens. I felt so weird meeting Matt Damon. I work with amazing people and when I met him I was speechless. I went bright red and embarrassed. It's weird when you go to so many events, all of the sudden they take pictures of you with people you don't know. That time was embarrassing because he knew who I was.

What do you think of Robert Pattinson?
I'm amazed! He's supposed to be the new Harry Potter now. I called him and told him "You're taking all the credit!!". I'm kidding. I'm very happy for him, but we haven't spoken.

Do you get together with your Harry Potter cast mates?
I think it's healthy to have friends outside the industry because I can feel very claustrophobic at times. That's why I want to go to school again so bad, I want to have lots of friends in college.

Are you going to Cambridge this year?
I had a sabbatical year. I've decided that I'll go to America next fall, I'll enroll in an East Coast school, just not in New York, because it would be very distracting for me.

You have an amazing career, it's brave of you to take time off. Is your education more important than acting right now for you?
I think I would go mad if I didn't go back to school. It keeps me grounded, being with my friends allows me to have a normal life. I don't think you can be a good actress if you go insane.

Are you a movie star in your house, or do they ask you take the trash out?
To me it's "Emma, take the trash out".

Why have you chosen not to move out of your house yet?
Because I love my family. And I don't have to do my own laundry (laughs).

You don't feel like moving out?
I might move into an apartment with a friend. We're thinking about it.

Are you recognized on the streets?
Yes, I still take the train and people recognize me. It's funny because people whisper to each other "isn't that the girl from Harry Potter?" and then they say "No, she can't be on the train!". I just laugh.

Do people ask you?
All the time. "Are you the girl from Harry Potter?" and I'm like "yeah...". I don't deny it because one time in New York I made a huge mistake. I was skating with my family and a woman came up to me and I told her "Yeah, people say I look like her a lot" and five minutes later she came back and said "How do you dare lie to me?". I felt so bad.

Do you feel the pressure to look glam and very sexy?
Yes, it's intense. I'm not gonna lie.

Do you have a persona stylist?
No, I don't have anyone. I dress myself. For me. It's something that I really enjoy. It's a genuine thing. I really love fashion, I think it's a way to express yourself and it's really fun. I think it's a subject that it shouldn't be taken to an extreme of saying "Clothes, they're stressful!".

Which are your favorite designers?
If I have to go to a premiere I look for trendsetting designers like Balenciaga and Chanel. I love everything by William Tempest, a British designer. If I'm casual I shop at TopShop, Zara, Gap, Agnes B, Mix and Match.

What do you invest your money on?
My brother would love it if I got a Lamborghini, but I won't and he's sad about it. I don't feel like investing right now. I just want to do what my friends do and a lot of people who I know don't have that amount of money to spend. I want to do what they do. Go to the movies, eat some place. I live a very normal life. I just got a laptop and it's the most expensive thing I ever bought. Oh, and I got a car, a Toyota Prius.

If you go out on a date, do you pay or he pays?
I think women don't know what they want right now. I don't know if I want a guy who pays for everything because it's nice of him to do it, or if I have to pay to show him I'm independent.

When HP began who helped you manage your money?
Luckily my parents are lawyers, which was great. They handled all the legal stuff. WB was a great support because they knew it was goin to be a big thing so they worried about all the young actors in the movies, I think I would've felt very lonely if I had been the only kid in that project, but luckily, there were a lot of new kids too, so we could share all that exciting non-experience in the film industry.

Did your parents send you to some place so that you would learn how to manage your money?
I chose to do it. It was a four day course. It was good that not all my money got transferred to my account when I hit 18. I wouldn't have known what to do with it. I don't need money anyway, I love with my parents, I have dinner everyday with my family.

The last HP movie will be cut in two installments. Are you shooting it all at once.
Yes, all at once.

What's been your favorite scene in the entire series and which did you hate?
I love the Great Hall scenes. But they were very hard. Some people don't know that we shoot every scene in two or three days, and the food starts smelling funny. There's lot of lights and it very hot, it starts smelling funny. That's the worst. The best is when we have to do dangerous scenes and stunts.

Have you thought about what you will do after HP?
Yes, I want to keep acting but I also have the firm idea of going to college. That will keep me very busy.

Interview:

With this Harry Potter phenomenon, do you feel like you've been able to have a normal teenager's life?

Yes, I have because I'm still going to school, and that makes a difference. I haven't been homeschooled or anything.

Yo donna interview.

COVER: More over Harry Potter:

I want to convince the world that I can be more than Hermione.

PAGE ONE:

(From child actor to diva, little is left of little Hermione, know-it-all friend of Harry Potter, who in the sixth installment of the saga shows a more sensual side of herself. Emma Watson was named one of the sexiest woman in the world, she probably feels more comfortable. But this isn’t her only title; she’s also a fashion icon)

From a caterpillar to a butterfly, Emma Watson (Born in Paris, 15th of April 1990) is no longer a child, even though being younger she already knew how to manage herself in interviews. She’s old enough to drive, go to a pub and even go to University (She’s decided to take a break from the public eye and take a year off). The smartest student in Hogwarts school– she’s also smart in real life, graduating with top marks– she’s turned into one of the sexiest stars on the big screen. When Watson was chosen to play Hermione Granger at the tender age of nine, she didn’t suspect that she would turn into the female protagonist of one of the most successful film franchises of all time. A decade later, with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince about to premiere: the physical changes of the actress are more prominent than ever: her curls have died out, her hair has turned blonde and her image is more sophisticated. Also, the evolution of her character, who abandons the spoiled image to a more kind and sensual image. And as if by magic. Also, there are still those who confuse reality with fantasy, actress and character; something she repents. As the Harry Potter saga reaches its end (Only two films remain). It will be then, and only then when Emma Watson begins to soar and has the opportunity to demonstrate that’s there is life after Hermione.

YO DONA: Think for a moment that day in the Berkeley Hotel in London, when you, Rupert and Dan were playing Monopoly, just before the premiere of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to the world wide press. Did you imagine than that those big changes were about to happen in your life?

Emma Watson: I think that I was too young to notice it, even though, obviously, I was scared to death! I didn’t think of the fact the JK Rowling was about to write seven novels. Nor did I suspect that the saga would become so popular. Nobody knew that the film would turn into one of the most successful movies of all time.

PAGE TWO:

YO DONA: Does feel different to work in the new film, after the three protagonists have done other projects?

Emma Watson: Yes. It’s been great to be back and speak to Dan (Daniel Radcliffe) and Rupert (Grint) about their other projects and comment on the difference between theater and in television. It’s left us with much security, because we started younger with the Potter films. For me it was important to do Ballet Shoes; I learned a lot thanks to that experience.

YO DONA: has it bothered you that your character (Hermione) has a romantic history with Ron (Rupert Grint)? I say it, mostly because he’s an old friend…

Emma Watson: No it was very hard. Rupert was very calm, and it doesn’t matter to me because I like Romantic Comedy. He and I added a bit of comedic relief to the movies once they became darker. It’s fun to see Rupert that way. Hermione and Ron are very different, but they have a special element. It will be a bit uncomfortable to do the kissing scenes; there’s no other word to describe it, but its part of the job.

YO DONA: With 19 years of age, what’s your goal?

Emma Watson: To convince the world I’m more than Hermione.

YO DONA: have you ever thought of rebelling?

Emma Watson: I work way too much to have time to think of that. But I’m sure that when I’m 30 I’ll have a hormonal breakdown and do everything I’m missing out on now.

YO DONA: Is it difficult to find a girl of your age as down-to-earth as you. Like in the U.S. all the actors of your generation lose it.

Emma Watson: I understand them. The interest just comes up all of a sudden and your life is superior to the capacity of anyone standing them. Even if you’re young, the pressure you feel all the calls for perfection….it hard to stand it all.

YO DONA: Would it be difficult to maintain a normal emotional relationship…

Emma Watson: Relationships are complicated themselves, and without noticing the weight of the world watching over you. They’re watching if you go out with someone, if there’s a crisis, a break-up… But I don’t want to say that I have had them.

YO DONA: When you meet new people, do you trust them?

Emma Watson: I trust my instinct. I’ve learned to be good when it comes to knowing why people have an interest in me.

YO DONA: How do your friends act around you, now that you’re rich and famous?

Emma Watson: It’s only weird for them when we go out and the people recognize me on the street. On the other hand, they know how to be protective.

YO DONA: Do you always pay?

Emma Watson: No! It would be uncomfortable for them.

YO DONA: You’re a fashion icon the British media. Could you describe your style?

Emma Watson: I’m a true Londoner. The time is very grey in my city, and that favors an eclectic and crazy fashion time. I mix the style of the street with vintage and designer jewelry. I have fun. My mother is very elegant; I think I’ve learned a lot from her.

YO DONA: And from Kate Moss?

Emma Watson: She also has style. You notice it in the cloths she wears. In the U.S you don’t go out if your stylist hasn’t told you what to wear. That’s why the way of dressing over there is a bit interesting.

YO DONA: Have you ever felt the need to be thin?

Emma Watson: I’ve never felt the need to be thin; always being very thin isn’t pretty. I’m never on a diet. I love cooking and eat. I make excellent raspberry tarts and amaretti (almond pastries).

YO DONA: How does it feel to wear dresses that Chanel sends you or the places your profession let’s you travel to?

Emma Watson: It’s incredible to get those gowns, because I’ve always loved designer clothing. It’s the best. If anyone dresses me for a premiere, it’ll be Chanel. Physically, I don’t have time to go shopping for those events, that’s why it’s good that they lend me these cloths. It’s also great to travel with all the people I’ve worked with. What other profession would have offered me all these opportunities?

YO DONA: Do you have a diary?

Emma Watson: I save some things from my childhood, with little memos about thins I said or though. I also keep boxes of memorabilia, including a piece of the Giant chess set. I have a lot of little things they let us keep.

YO DONA: It’ll probably be good for doing an autobiography some day…

Emma Watson No, I don’t imagine doing one. It’s too strange and weird to look back and contemplate over that small girl. I criticize myself a lot, and it would be difficult to watch the first few films. I’m very proud of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but I had to see it two or here times before I was calm enough to be able to concentrate on my interpretation.

YO DONA: How did it feel, in 2007, to receive the Best Female Interpretation award at the ITV national Films Awards?

Emma Watson: It was very nice. I didn’t expect to win it. It wasn’t only about Order of the Phoenix, it was for all the movies; I was flattered to with the fact that the public voted for me to get that award. It was one of my proudest moments.

YO DONA: Your cast mates say that they’ve banned you from the ping-pong table because you’re too good.

Emma Watson: [Laughs] I hope they let me play again, because I love playing. When I was small I was a bit of a tomboy and did a lot of sports.

YO DONA: What other things do you have in your trailers in the studio?

Emma Watson: Rupert has darts, billiards, ping-pong and video game consuls. Dan has books and music. During the summer I was so bored I painted a large mural in my trailer. Besides that it’s very feminine, it has candles, pillows, and all the things us girls like.

Harry ties up London
In mid-April, Londoners once again felt the whole scope of the Potter phenomenon. The world-famous Piccadilly Circus, right in the centre of Britain's capital, was closed off as scenes for Deathly Hallows were being shot. The city's entire traffic had to be rerouted, and there were massive traffic jams - just so that Dan, Rupert, Emma and a whopping 400 extras could film one of the action sequences for the saga's last part. Not every film gets that kind of support! Apart from that, the magic usually happens outside of London. Removed from the sprawling city, the cast and crew let slip as little as possible. But "Picture Star" does have a few photos from the set of the last Potter movie

The best lines from HP: (Top to bottom)

Daniel Radcliffe: I'd love to be a character on the Simpsons.
I've always believed in magic, one hundred percent. It fascinates me.
I'm not clumsy, just prone to accidents.
I don't understand girls, but I'm learning.

Rupert Grint: When I was small, I wanted to be an ice-cream vendor.

Emma Watson: I don't necessarily want to undress, but I'm still hoping for a similar offer.

N for N.E.W.T.
After seven years of school, students have to sit N.E.W.T.'s. Harry has to do especially well in those, after all, he wants to become an Auror. For that, he has to pass at least five exams with the grade E (Exceeds Expectations).

D for Daily Prophet.
The Daily Prophet is the biggest and most important newspaper in the wizarding world. After the return of Voldemort, it also published a lot of rubbish about Harry and Dumbledore. Better read "Picture Star"!

P for prefect.
Prefects are chosen to supervise and discipline the other students. Dumbledore, Remus Lupin, Bill and Percy Weasley as well as Cedric Diggory had all been given this important task. In Harry's year, Ron and Hermione were chosen for Gryffindor. Dumbledore didn't choose Harry so he wouldn't burden him with any more responsibilities.

X for Xenophilius Lovegood.
Luna Lovegood's father is the editor of the Quibbler. He gives Harry the chance to report his version of the events of Voldemort's return. But apart from that, he's usually more interested in weird stories about crumble-horned snorkacks.

W for Weasley.
The thing about pure-blood families is that most of them are supporters of Voldemort - they hold racist opinions about half-bloods and Mudbloods. The Malfoys, or the Black family (excluding Sirius), are examples of where that kind of thing leads. The Weasleys alone are decent people through and through, but because of that, they have to bear a lot of taunting from other pure-bloods.
