Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have been included in Entertainment Weekly's '30 Under 30' actors list.
Daniel, who is at number 29opens in new window, is the youngest on the actors list and joins so notable performers as Justin Timberlake, Elijah Wood, Zac Efron and Jamie Bell. While Emma is at number 28opens in new window and joins Amanda Bynes, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt and Kiera Knightley.

Czech supermarket sale debate.
Albatros, the publisher of the Czech version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, had an agreement to only release the novel to bookstores for the first month. Per the original agreement, they would release the novel to supermarkets on March 1st, while it has already been available at bookstores since January 31st.
Our last report stated how that agreement had been broken. The supermarket chain Tesco released copies of the novel starting February 7th.
Now we know that Tesco received the books in what appears to be a completely legal way. They apparently purchased the books from Vltava Stores, one of Albatros's customers, who were under the impression that they had the right to sell the books online to anyone. They had unloaded half of their stock to Tesco.
What is particularly strange about this whole thing is that the original agreement was put together because booksellers like Vltava insisted upon it. They had been complaining that supermarkets were taking all of their business by selling the books at ridiculous prices.
So the status of the whole thing right now is that Tesco is in the clear but Vltava is under fire. Albatros is requesting monetary compensation, and if an arrangement is not made, they plan to sue.

JKR&WB file response to suit by HP Lexicon.
JKR and WB have filed a response to the latest filing by RDR Books in the ongoing lawsuit against the publishers of the intended book version of the Harry Potter Lexicon. The filings are just coming in, so this post will be updated often; so far we have information on the declarations by J.K. Rowling, author of HP; Cheryl Klein, senior editor at Scholastic Books; Prof. Landes from the University of Chicago and Suzanne Murphy from Scholastic. (Now updated with Emily Blumsack’s declaration, Jerri Johnson’s declaration, and the components of the main statement.)
This is the last filing before a hearing on March 13 to determine if a preliminary injunction will be granted. After that there still may or may not be a trial to determine if infringement has taken place.
The main statement says that JKR/WB has proved likelihood of success (if the judge thinks so too it will affect the case’s forward motion, if any) and that the proposed book copies an enormous amount of Harry Potter work verbatim. It also says the proposed book falls under a definition of derivative that RDR ignored in its assessment: that it is a “work based on one or more pre-existing works.” It says the book is “nothing more than a recast of Ms. Rowling’s original text,” which differentiates it from the Ty Beanie Baby book cited by RDR because that book contained “critical and evaluative” elements.

Dan has been nominated for a Saturn Award in the category of Best Performance by a Young Actor for his work on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The film itself is up for more awards, including Best Fantasy Film, Best Director, Best Makeup, Best Special Effects, Best Costume, Best Music, Best Writing and Best Supporting Actress for Imelda Staunton. The Saturn Awards honor the year's best Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror films.
The Saturn Awards will be presented on Tuesday, 24th June, 2008 in Universal City, California.

“We don’t often have things that aren’t in the book,” producer David Barron told The Back Room.”But this was brought in because Jo (Rowling) was able throughout the quite lengthy book to keep dropping little snippets of what was happening in the outside world-there’d be people reading newspapers and talking about how somebody’s parents had been killed or somebody had been withdrawn from school because their parents didn’t think it was safe. And we’re made aware that the Muggle world is also experiencing these disasters, but thinks they are disasters rather than the work of Voldemort. The book is peppered with those moments, but we couldn’t do that quite so easily in the film. So (the extra scene) comes in the middle of the film and it just reminds us the world is no longer a safe place. Even in what would normally be considered the safe haven of the Burrow, nobody’s safe. I think you’ll like it. It’s quite effective.”

Lord John Paul Castrianni has spoken out briefly about his appearance.

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has enjoyed a secret Valentine's date... with co-star Emma Watson.
Daniel, 18, and Emma - who plays Hermione Granger in JK Rowling's boy wizard blockbusters - were spotted huddled together in the garden of a London pub.
One surprised onlooker said Emma, 17, appeared to have totally fallen under Daniel's spell.
The pair arrived at 10pm at the Imperial Arms, Fulham, West London - a stone's throw from Daniel's home.
They quickly headed out to the garden hoping not to be seen.
The onlooker said: "They arrived quite late at the pub - about 10pm - and sat outside, using each other's bodies for warmth.
"Emma, who was wearing a black top and matching pashmina, kept looking over her shoulder nervously as if she didn't wanted to be recognised. When people started to notice the couple and began pointing, she wrapped her scarf around her head so only her eyes were peeping out.
"Daniel found her new look hysterical and started laughing. Throughout the night, in
fact, he just kept giggling like a love-struck teen.
"The pair seemed totally absorbed in one another's company, though - they were chatting and joking easily until just before closing time.
"They then left the pub, heads together and whispering, and headed in the direction of Daniel's home nearby."

Daniel Racliffe who plays Harry Potter in the movies, has joined a campaign to save the cinema Carlisle's Lonsdale. To save it, he and many other artists have donated autographed photos that will be auctioned to raise funds which will be used to restore the local film and turn it into a real arts center that would include a theater with more…

Dan dieting for Equus run.
Daniel also revealed filming on the sixth movie 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' is going well. He told British radio station Heart: "We're getting through it alright. I'm really enjoying it. We're about six months in and we've only got four more to go." Daniel is currently on diet in preparation for the Broadway run of hit play 'Equus', in which he appears fully naked. He said: "I need to diet more. I started over Christmas and lost seven pounds."

Jim Dale wins Grammy.
The 50th annual Grammy Awards was held tonight, where it was announced that Jim Dale (narrator of the US Potter audiobooks) received a Grammy for his reading of Deathly Hallows. Jim also won back in 2000 for Goblet of Fire.

Emma in a new role rumours..
Marie has told me the author wishes, if ever an adaption be made of her novel, she would like Emma to play the role of Judith. Here is what the highlighted bit says:
“Judith’s role, their daughter, will be played by Emma Watson, who could escape from Hermione of Harry Potter and free her lout temperament, a little original.”
Please don’t take this as a new role for Emma, because it isn’t. As I said, hypothesis. And the next set of scans, from One, includes an interview, a runover of the Potter movies (already made and up coming) and an overview of Potter stars and their earnings.

On April 15 Emma will be 18 years old. How time flies. It seems not so long ago that we first saw her as a cute little child with bushy hair, but soon she will be considered an adult in most countries. The theme of this years birthday project is about turning 18 and how life changes. The childhood you leave behind, and what lies ahead. Memories of the past, hopes and dreams of the future. We can't know what's going through Emma's mind at this time, but we thought it would be nice for us to share our thoughts and experiences with her.
There are 3 ways you can contribute to the project, and you can do any or all of them.

For this part of the project we would like you to write about your own 18th birthday, what you left behind and what you were looking forward to, or if you're not yet 18, you can tell Emma what you are looking forward to, and how you think your life will change. Like a picture of all your friends holding up a banner that says happy birthday. Or a picture of your napping cat with a Happy Birthday ribbon around it's neck. Or a little sign with your birthday message placed in an unusal spot. Anything as long as it has a written message to Emma on it. Try to be creative; don't everyone send us the examples I just gave. Be as serious or crazy as you like, as long as it's in good taste. The pictures should be 300 pixels per inch or higher (a 1200 x 1600 photo would be a good size).

Lastly, I been reading a lot of news on Dan, no so much important news, but one thing in particular that I have been noticing lately is that most if not all of those news for the past 4 to 5 months, have been using on their articles "Daniel Radcliffe" and not "Harry Potter," I think this means a lot for Dan as an actor; finally writers are talking about him as an actor and not as someone who plays a famous character, and this only means that his projects outside Harry Potter have been the right choice, starting from a co-starring role in December Boys to starring roles in My Boy Jack and his most successful project as of now in "Equus." I really don't know why I haven't post this GREAT news about Dan's future projects, but as you probably know already Dan is going to be really busy this and next year, not only he will finish filming the 6th Harry Potter movie and perform as Alan in Equus for a few months in New York, but he will also start in "Journey" a film about Dan Eldon, a young 22-year-old photographer and his journey in the civil war in Somalia.
The New York Times was the first source reporting this news and later on it was confirmed by dr.uk.
MTV has a more complete report about this film which is set to be directed by Bronwen Hughes and scripted by "Shine" writer Jan Sardi, here is a quote from Dan Eldon's mother Kathy about Dan Radcliffe:

On another news, The Guardian has an interview with veteran film producer and script writer, a star of London's West End musical theatre, an award-winning writer and an accomplished landscape painter, Barry Humphries, most known for voicing character Bruce (shark) on Finding Nemo (2003) and for his famous character Edna Everage, that brought him international renown, in this interview he was asked who he would like to play him on a film about his life:

Lastly, I been reading a lot of news on Dan, no so much important news, but one thing in particular that I have been noticing lately is that most if not all of those news for the past 4 to 5 months, have been using on their articles "Daniel Radcliffe" and not "Harry Potter," I think this means a lot for Dan as an actor; finally writers are talking about him as an actor and not as someone who plays a famous character, and this only means that his projects outside Harry Potter have been the right choice, starting from a co-starring role in December Boys to starring roles in My Boy Jack and his most successful project as of now in "Equus." In a recent interview by Empire Online, Dan talks about his upcoming project "Journey," his involvement in it, and how he’s preparing to take on Dan Elton’s life.
"There's a lot of stuff flying around about this at the moment," ... "I am absolutely attached to it and it would be amazing to play that part. But people are making assumptions about when it's going to happen and it won't happen – if indeed it does happen – for a while yet. But basically...Eldon grew up in Africa and discovered a gift and a passion for photography. Eventually he got too caught up in something that lead to his death".

"They showed me some of his diaries, which the film will be based on mostly," ... "They're incredible. The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting a celebrity match of cricket this Monday on the community sports field in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley. (very close were I live!)
This match is to celebrate The G'day USA Australia week in the US, which shows awareness of Australian companies in fields such as food, wine and films, and encouraging Americans to visit Australia.
THE cricket will be played on a modest oval in suburban Los Angeles, but the players in this Ashes contest are anything but ordinary.
Russell Crowe as wicketkeeper, Mel Gibson in first slip, Steve Waugh directing the action, and Mike Whitney shaking up England openers Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart. To add to the magic, England's boy wizard Daniel "Harry Potter" Radcliffe will be there too.
Waugh thinks Radcliffe, with or without his magic wand, could be the dark horse.
"I know Robbie Williams is a big soccer fan and I'm not sure about Jude Law, but I know Daniel Radcliffe loves his cricket so I'd say he'd be the danger man," Waugh said.

I really don't know why I haven't post this GREAT news about Dan's future projects, but as you probably know already Dan is going to be really busy this and next year, not only he will finish filming the 6th Harry Potter movie and perform as Alan in Equus for a few months in New York, but he will also start in "Journey" a film about Dan Eldon, a young 22-year-old photographer and his journey in the civil war in Somalia.
The New York Times was the first source reporting this news and later on it was confirmed by dr.uk.
MTV has a more complete report about this film which is set to be directed by Bronwen Hughes and scripted by "Shine" writer Jan Sardi, here is a quote from Dan Eldon's mother Kathy about Dan Radcliffe:
"He has portrayed a magician for years, and my Dan was a different kind of magician," ... "There are parallels in the two Dans' lives. Daniel Radcliffe is a poet, he keeps journals and he's half-Jewish. He has a puckishness, sense of humour and energy inside him, which remind me of Dan."
According to the Guardian, Kathy turned down other actors for the role, including Heath Ledger, Orlando Bloom and Joaquin Phoenix.
"A lot of older actors wanted to play this character, but we resisted because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood. If you're an established leading actor then you're too old for this role," ... "Daniel Radcliffe is the first time we've found a young enough actor with a global following. We love the way he's a global soul. He's traveled the world and feels comfortable in the world and hasn't been corrupted by Hollywood."

JKR on her husband and ex husband and Minister of Magic.
Jo speaking of her inspirations for events and characters which played heavily in the Harry Potter series, a little about her past, and candidly about her husband, Dr. Neil Murray. We are still awaiting the entire interview and will provide more here when we can. In the meantime, here are some rough excerpts from the interview which appeared over the weekend:
About the relationship between September 11, 2001 and Harry Potter, Rowling denied any influence and recognizes the true inspiration for Minister Cornelius Fudge: “My model of the world after Voldemort’s return was, directly, the government of Neville Chamberlain in Great Britain during the Second World War, when he tried to minimize the menace of the Nazi regime for political convenience.”
She also spoke about her two marriages, saying: “I had decided not to marry again. In seven years I hadn’t met anyone who liked me so much. And I remember that I thought: I have a daughter who I adore, I have success, and deep down, I am happy. My sister thought he was a very solid person. He’s an excellent doctor in his profession, and he works in a world that is far away from mine. What I most adore about him is that, everyday, Neil knows more people that want to know if he can help them, without having to ask who he is married to.”
She didn’t avoid talking about her first husband, Jorge Arantes, who Jo was married to for nearly two years: “None of the characters of my books are based on my ex. Whatever happened in our marriage, the truth is that my ex-husband contributed fifty percent to one of the most beautiful things that has happened in my life, which is my eldest daughter. So, I’d never used him in a fairy tale. He’s her father.”

The film’s soundtrack, composed by Nicholas Hooper, received a nomination for Best Soundtrack as did David Yates, who was nominated for the Best Director honor. “Order of the Phoenix” leads the pack in overall nominations along with the film “Atonement,” who also received six nominations.
The awards ceremony is set for March 9th at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England. Comedian Rob Brydon is set to host the ceremony.The awards ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast on ITV2 Monday, March 10th at 9pm local time.
