Guillermo Del Toro, who has previously indicatedopens in new window that he would be interested in directing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is in talks to direct The Hobbit and when producer David Heyman was asked to commentopens in new window on this he stated "that Del Toro was sadly not really in the running because he's rather busy."
There doesn't seem to be enough days in the year for Del Toro to tackle both the The Hobbit, with an expected release during 2010, and the last Harry Potter film also slated for a 2010 release.
