JKR's Tales of Beedle the Bard sells for a record high price!

today's auction of J.K. Rowling's The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Amazon.com has revealed that they were the ones to purchase the book! Amazon will not be offering a print version of the book, unless JKR gives the go-ahead to do so, and has announced that the book will go on tour to schools and libraries. The book is 157 pages long, all handwritten, and editors at Amazon are currently accepting questions in their message boards.

You can view hi-res stills of the auction, a video of a reading of the handwritten note inside of the book from J.K. Rowling, and post in the message boards at the online retailer's site right here.

Amazon.com today announced it has purchased J.K. Rowling's "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" at an auction held by Sotheby's in London. The book of five wizarding fairy tales, referenced in the last book of the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," is one of only seven handmade copies in existence. The book was purchased for GBP 1,950,000, and Ms. Rowling is donating the proceeds to The Children's Voice campaign, a charity she co-founded to help improve the lives of institutionalized children across Europe.
