emma w. in a new tv role.

According to an article in the Sunday Mirror, Emma has been cast in the upcoming BBC One adaptation of Ballet Shoes that will be broadcast later this year. She will play one of the three orphaned sisters in this classic childrens story. Thanks to Jane and Marty for the tip.

Harry Potter's pal Hermione Granger is to star in a BBC adaptation of classic children's tale Ballet Shoes.Emma Watson, 17, will play an orphan in the feature-length film of Noel Streatfield's 1936 book.The 90-minute drama, also featuring comedian Victoria Wood and Hustle star Marc Warren, will be the teen actress's first TV role.

It will also see her reunited with Potter costar Richard Griffiths - Harry's evil Uncle Vernon.Filming on the lavish adaptation will start this month and it is expected to be the centrepiece of the Beeb's Christmas line-up.Ballet Shoes follows the tale of three orphaned sisters who are adopted by an eccentric explorer and raised by his niece.

A TV source said: "Emma was practically born for this role."This is wonderful news if true, but there is no official word yet. A press release from BBC One on 20 July says that open casting for the sisters would take place the following week. Shooting begins this month.
