Warner Bros. has just sent a press release which states that with the earnings of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the Harry Potter films are now the highest-grossing film franchise in history! The total box office tally worldwide for the first five Harry Potter films is more than $4.47 billion, beating out the earnings of all twenty-two James Bond movies and the six Star Wars films. Very cool!
Additionally, the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been confirmed for November 21, 2008.
BURBANK, CA, September 10, 2007 – With the success of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter films have now become, worldwide, the top-grossing motion picture franchise in history. The announcement was made today by Barry Meyer, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer and Alan Horn, President & Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros.
The combined worldwide box office gross for the five Harry Potter films to date is in excess of $4.47 billion, surpassing the box office totals of all 22 James Bond films and the six “Star Wars” movies.
This impressive record comes even as “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is still going strong in theatres around the globe, and with two more highly anticipated Harry Potter films—“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”—still in the offing.

Variety is reporting tonight that Warner Brothers has announced the Harry Potter film series are now the top-grossing film franchise in movie history. Amassing a staggering ” $4.47 billion worldwide,” the series about the boy who lived has surpased the box office totals for all 22 of the James Bond films, as well as the six “Star Wars” films.

October's issue of Teen Vogue has a few words from 19 year-old Jamie Campbell Bower who says that he has his "fingers crossed" that he will play Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Jamie can be seen in the film adaptation of Sweeney Todd, starring Harry Potter actors Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, and Timothy Spall.
