36. HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE (2005)
No, we haven't lost our minds. One of J.K. Rowling's ingenious ideas was to blend two literary traditions, fantasy and coming-through-school fiction (à la Tom Brown's School Days). That's particularly true in Goblet, which depicts 14-year-old Harry's heightened state of adolescent anxiety, about the big (Quidditch) game, about finding a date for the big dance, and about juggling homework while saving the wizard world from evil Lord Voldemort.

"I am delighted that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been chosen for this year's Royal Film Performance. We have always endeavoured to remain true to Jo Rowling's vision in recreating the magic of her world and we have been overwhelmed with the continual support of audiences. And thus, we are thrilled that our film is being honoured in this way and will help to raise money for such good causes."

Harry Potter sorceress Emma Watson was looking demure in an oyster-coloured chiffon dress by Charles Anastase, at the Cartier Polo. She teamed her pretty dress with an oversized clutch and vertiginous strappy sandals.

Emma Watson was looking so pretty and lovely in a short, elegant white dress.
She said: "I’ve just finished filming (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and I’m taking a break now. I haven’t got any plans for the rest of the summer. It’s heaven."

French set report in full.
It’s a first! Studio is the only French media to bring you backstage for the sixth episode of the Harry Potter series on screen. Visit of one of the most mythical sets in the world and revelations from the actors who’ve been playing Harry, Ron and Hermione for eight years now.
An airport! That’s the size needed to shelter the set of the Harry Potter series. When we enter the well-guarded walls of the Leavesden studios, located 30 km from London, the first thing that strikes is the gigantism of the place. Space as far as the eye can see… 300 000 square meters where are dissimulated, here and there, in enclosures walled by high fences, the most incredible décors. Here, we get a glimpse of the Quidditch stands; further, the Weasley’s house; on the left, the massive hall of Hogwarts or Privet Drive, where Harry lives with his uncle and his aunt. But the most impressive is without doubt the Hogwarts Express, a real red train that takes the students to school every year. “With the passing of years, we built the locations which each episode required”, explains a producer. “But we never destroyed anything because it was impossible for us to know what J.K. Rowling was going to write after that and what we would have to re-use."
Today is the 130th day of filming! The whole crew is gathered on a small stone bridge – built for the occasion – supposed to connect Hogwarts to the Three Broomsticks. It is covered in (artificial) snow. Tiny white confettis fall from the ceiling. A huge fan blows hot wind. On the ground, discrete marks indicate where the actors should stand. The French operator in chief, Bruno Delbonel (who collaborated with Jeunet on “Amélie Poulain” and “Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles”) fixes the last details with David Yates, the director. “Turnover!” yells the first assistant. “It’s rolling!” answers the sounds engineer above the din of the machines. “Action!” whispers David Yates. The new Potions teacher, Horace Slughorn (played by Jim Broadbent), an old wizard who likes to be seen in company of celebrities, invites Harry Potter at his Christmas cocktail. “It’s a unique experience”, admits the veteran. “Since the series has been successful for many years, we don’t feel like we’re in one of those blockbusters where everyone is anxious about the huge budget. I had never seen such confidence in a project of that scale.”
At his side, Daniel Radcliffe (19 years-old), Rupert Grint (20 years-old) and Emma Watson (18 years-old), the three young “wizards” approve like experienced experts. They have been immersing themselves in the series since childhood. It is striking to see how alike their characters they are. Emma Watson is a good student just like Hermione. Once she gets her A-level, she’ll stop school for a year before applying at university. Always focused, she’s often annoyed by the boys, who are more undisciplined. “Of coure, there have been frictions between us”, they admit. “But who hasn’t fighted with a childhood friend?”
Even more astonishing is Daniel Radcliffe. Any teenager would have gone crazy with so much money and fame. Not him. He is simple and has a good head on his shoulders, and he is even one of the few who appreciate the confined atmosphere of the Leavesden studios, where he can stay for six months at a time. On set, he adds a nuance to his play at each take. Here, he accentuates the notion of cold by putting his hands in his pockets. On the following take, he demonstrates impatience with his leg bouncing up and down. The director smiles to show his approval. As if, like his character, he was on a mission.

a jump in its 2007 global profits, thanks partially to the success of the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film. New figures released by the UK Film Council show that a fifty percent jump from last year’s takings was seen in 2007 with, as we reported previously, the fifth Potter film taking the spot of highest grossing British film of the year. The article goes on to note that Order of the Phoenix grossed a total of “£470 million worldwide” and “July 2007 was the biggest single month of cinema-going in Britain for almost 40 years.” In total, the paper reports, the industry took in approximately £1.65 billion ($3.3 billion). The CEO of the UK Film Council, John Woodward, looks forward to this year at the movies, saying in the article:
“Last year we had a great crop of British films and a good year at the box office. We’ve got more to look forward to this year with a Bond and a Potter, as well as Brideshead Revisited, How To Lose Friends and Alienate People and Keira Knightley as The Duchess all due in cinemas soon.”

DH one yr anniversary.
A year ago today, most of us were gulping down pages of Deathly Hallows. Some of us had waited 10 years for it, and though we were sad that the end was nigh we were too excited to fput down the book. We wondered what Harry’s end meant for us: for us as fans, as a fandom, as friends.
So what’s happened over the past year? We’ve discovered the fear was unfounded – we’ve grown, not outgrown. We’re still discussing, arguing, enjoying. We still have plenty to talk about, and most of it is still about Snape.
But all of us know the Potter fandom still has a ton of life and is still a part of our lives.
A year gone, so fast – where will we be next year?

Daniel Radcliffe. Any teenager would have gone mad when blessed with so much money and fame. Not him. Simple, down to earth, he's even one of the only ones who still appreciates the enclosed atmosphere at Leavesden Studios, where he sometimes spends up to 6 months in a row. On the set, he adds nuance to the part of Harry. He emphasizes the cold by stuffing his hands in his pockets. For the next take, he favours the feeling of impatience by moving his legs. The director nods, smiling. It's like he was on a mission, like his character. And what if it was the key of the success of the Harry Potter movie saga: three Heaven-sent teenagers who bring legendary written characters to life."

HP theme park update..
“Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme park. The Orlando Sentinel has word today regarding areas being closed in the existing park, including closures of the “Flying Unicorn ride, the Enchanted Oak Tavern restaurant, the Dragon’s Keep store and the Alchemy Bar. All will be refurbished with new themes related to the Harry Potter attractions area, set to open in late 2009 or early 2010.”
Of interest is word on the continuing development of the Hogsmeade and Hogwarts castle areas. Quotage: “The Enchanted Oak building, shown at right, above, which already looked like a magical, mystical place, is now being rebuilt, presumably to resemble a Hogsmeade establishment such as The Three Broomsticks. A seven-story structure of steel girders rising behind a Jurassic Park fence, shown at left, above, appears to be framework for the castle.

"I am such a feminist on this. It drives me nuts when friends say, "We can't continue because sport gives you muscles and it's so unattractive, and you get sweaty." For some reason girls seem to think it is unfeminine and they worry about being "pretty". But I feel the most pretty when I come off the pitch after a hockey game and I have got pink cheeks and bright eyes. Sport really makes me feel good about myself."

The project is quite simple: after sending in your donation to the Demelza House Children's Hospice, think of your favourite line from any film, or think of a line that most reminds you of Daniel, and forward it along with your name and country to be included in our Reel Love production right here for everyone to see! Each "screen" will represent fans in various countries all over the world. Your line will scroll, along with your name and country, within its regional section.

a credible report-HBP full trailer...
a trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film. TLC has now received several credible reports from sources who say there will be a trailer for HBP attached to Star Wars: The Clone Wars when it opens on August 15. However the latest twist is that this will be the full -length trailer as WB is eschewing a teaser to bring a longer amount of footage for fans next month. Again, while this possibility of a trailer with Clone Wars has been floating on the net for a while (along with the numerous other possible movies/dates

HBP's IMAX rumour.
rumor regarding a possible teaser trailer for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Coming Soon.com and these reports all say that there is a possible super short teaser for the upcoming sixth Harry Potter film due to show in front of The Dark Knight when it screens on IMAX theaters next weekend. Please note: We have no idea if this is to be an actual mini-trailer, or possibly just an announcement the film is due in IMAX this fall, or what this may actually consist of-if true at all. Werewolf in the movie, and then says that in his attempt to create “an army of werewolves,” “Fenrir attacks Harry, but Harry or (someone unseen) petrifies him in time. But Ron’s Dad is not so lucky-Fenrir mauls his face and nearly kills him.” As readers will recall, we learned that the character of Fleur was not going to be in HBP, nor have we learned of the casting for Bill Weasley, so perhaps they have given Arthur that terrible fate for this film.

Emma on order of the phoenix film.
OotP (2007): "This film is closely related to the current situation. Somehow it talks about life after July 7 (London bombings in 2005), the way people behave when they’re scared, the way truth is often denied and all the things our society has to face. Facing the fact that the authority is corrupted means having a non-conformist approach to reality and power."

hbp romance sneak peek..
Harry develops feelings for Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright), the younger sister of his best pal Ron (Rupert Grint).
“Harry has these feelings for Ginny which he’s unable to express or fulfill because Ron is very protective of her,” says director David Yates. “Ginny is going through a time of exploration. She’s finding confidence with boys and has been going out with a few. There’s a kind of maturity that is quite adventurous.”
Yates chose to do more improvising this time around, particularly as the young actors have matured in their craft. One such improvisational scene is one between Harry and Ginny that is fraught with romantic tension.
Ron, for his part, is overcome with romantic fervor after digging into some charmed chocolates. “He’s in a daze and madly in love, which is kind of alarming to any warm body who comes into close
